Introducing Flatline
One of the cool things about being in the gaming industry is meeting other gamers, as well as, pro gamers and industry personnel. Sometime last year I ran across a great group of people who were competing on my favorite game at the time, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter for Xbox 360. I spent countless nights shooting and, of course getting shot by, these pros on GRAW but it was all in the good spirit and competition. I am proud to officially announce, The Everyday Gamer site as one of their sponsors for the upcoming 2008 Pro Circuit and proud to introduce everyone to the everyday gamers, Flatline.
EDG: What’s the history of the team?
Flatline: Most of us are former members of the successful team Hammer & Anvil. We branched off to create FLATLINE… a small elite group of gamers, all with the goal of becoming full time professional gamers who can compete in several different games, leagues, and tournaments.
EDG: Who are your members?
Josh “FISCOPATH” Garrison
Pablo “SYLENCED” Sanchez
Seth “SETHWHO” Copeland
Isaac “Ninja Zero” Yanez
Matt “BALLISTICS” Powers
EDG: What games and leagues is the team competing in?
Flatline: Currently we are competing in the Global Gaming League (GGL) 2v2 Halo 3 launch celebration tournament, along with the Ace Combat 6, 2v2 civilian’s vs. military tournament. We are anxiously waiting for the 2008 season, with our sights set on the World Cyber Games (WCG), Major League Gaming (MLG), and the Championship Gaming Series (CGS).
EDG: What games are the team looking forward to?
Flatline: CALL OF DUTY 4 (CoD 4)…big time. Four out of the five FLATLINE members prefer Call of Duty 4 over Halo 3. Our hope is that CoD 4 will take over the spotlight in the competition gaming world. With the recent reviews and the amazing CoD 4 Beta, it looks like our dreams are coming true.
EDG: What does it take to be a pro gamer?
Flatline: Time, dedication, and practice, along with natural talent. But it doesn’t stop there. A team has to believe they are the best, and once you believe it, you have to strive to prove it.
EDG: How long does the team practice?
Flatline: As much as possible. We aim for 4 hours a day 5 days a week, sometimes less, sometimes more.
EDG: What do members do other than play games if anything?
Flatline: Normally, lots of things. Right now we are pushing so hard to make our goals happen that all of our free time goes into trying to sign sponsors for the 2008 season, and making sure we are at the level we need to be for competition. It’s a lot of work, but we know it will pay off in the end.
EDG: How can people get a chance to play with yall?
Flatline: Our doors are open to everyone. If you want to play with us, just send us a friend request on XBOX Live or the Playstation Network. We are always looking for people to practice with or just play for fun.
EDG: Does the team compete on other platforms or X360 only?
Flatline: We also compete on the Playstation 3, although there aren’t many competitions on that system yet. We still think it’s important to compete in them.
EDG: Do you have any teams that you consider a major rival?
Flatline: We strongly believe in respecting our fellow competitors. Even if a team doesn’t like us for whatever reason, we will always act respectfully. Besides, it’s other teams that make competition and professional gaming possible.
EDG: Any “shout outs” or last words?
Flatline: Yeah, we would like to thank you, EDG for asking us to participate in this interview. We would also like to thank Dutch Bros Coffee for their support.
