Five Games You Can’t Miss
So I’ve been back behind the scenes the past week doing what I do for the site, as well as, getting some gaming in and I’m back to give my top five picks for this Fall. That’s not to say these are the only five games you should get but they are definitely quality titles that you should consider.
5. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Insomniac Games has long been a very talented group of developers for Sony platforms. They recently were named as one of the best places in the United States to work based on there quality of life for employees. That’s a great thing to know should you try to apply there but this is about the next iteration of their franchise, Ratchet & Clank. This game builds on the traditional formula of big explosions and over the top fun and brings all of that with updated graphics to the Playstation 3. This is definitely one to look for and it’s available now.
4. Assassin’s Creed
I’ve been intrigued with Assassin’s Creed ever since I first saw it being demonstrated for the Playstation 3 and it didn’t hurt that the lead producer, Jade Raymond, is somewhat of a celebrity in the gaming world in her own right. Since then it has become a multiplatform title for Playstation 3, PC, and Xbox 360. The storyline takes place during the Crusades and you play the role of an Assassin, Altair, trying to eliminate key policy makers during the times. The game re-creates the cities of Acre, Damascus, and Jerusalem as they were in that period to add to the immersive feeling and the tense chase scenes after an assassination provide the action needed. This game is set to release on November 13, 2007.
3. The Orange Box
I know I wrote about this game already here but honestly it really is that good. I can’t say enough good things about it and unlike many hardcore first person shooters, this game can appeal to action game aficionados, puzzle gurus, and gamers who just want a good story alike. I won’t say a lot more here since I just wrote about it a week ago but there is no other game in existence that offers this much value. It’s worth a buy for sure. It’s available now on Xbox 360 and PC and coming soon to Playstation 3.
2. Super Mario Galaxy
Anytime a new Super Mario game comes out it’s kind of a big deal. This one is no exception. What is arguably the most popular gaming franchise of all time introduces a new installment and for the first time we will get to interact with the game like never before using the Wii controllers. Forget that “other” Super Mario game that was released on Gamecube, this is the game that most people consider the true sequel to Super Mario 64 and it will not disappoint knowing Nintendo’s quality. It’ll be released on November 12, 2007 for the Nintendo Wii console.
1. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Ever since I first laid my eyes on this game my mouth was constantly 3 millimeters from the floor in awe. Obviously the minute I saw it I let EVERYONE know that this is going to be The Game of the Year, The Game of E3, and The Game of Everything. Needless to say I was pretty excited from the atmosphere alone, and with Infinity Ward back at the helm of development, the series would get back to what so many gamers wanted - a true sequel in spirit to Call of Duty 2. Luckily for those who received Multiplayer Beta invitations we got a little taste of what’s to come, pure shooter goodness. That means no more cheesy vehicle combat, the addition of a matchmaking system, and a ranking system that rewards you with extra abilities as you progress. There will also be a single player campaign based on a fictional war with realistic situations and we may have the game all other shooters will be judged by. This game will ship on November 5, 2007 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC, and Nintendo DS.
