EDG BlogSite Update and New Forums

Hello EDG Community,

As you may or may not be aware of there has been less activity on the site and that is mostly due to the staff doing a lot of work behind the scenes restructuring and refocusing our commitments to various areas. Owning and running a gaming site isn’t as easy and as glamorous as it may seem from the outside. When it does seem that way it’s because the staff is doing a good job keeping all that part transparent to the community. With that said, like any “job” it can be tiring, people’s interests, and people’s passion can change. There are a few changes around here. No we aren’t shutting down, no we aren’t going anywhere, our staff is just looking to regain our passion in why we wanted to do a site in the first place and that’s what we will do.

The main change is that this will no longer just be a gaming news and technology site. I have a lot of respect for journalism and I don’t mind doing it personally but the reality is that there are countless sites for that and only so many ways to reiterate news from a press release. We will still cover gaming news and technology in some capacity but that’s not our only focus. We love to play games most of all and are a laid back crew most of the time - which is why we went to a blog style anyway. That being the case when we started this venture our motto was and still is “By Gamers, For Gamers.” That’s why we are here and who we continue to do this for which leads me to the new focus.

Gamers.

The change in our site format is going to be beneficial to all gamers and especially those hardcore gamers. Whether you are a seasoned professional gamer or just a casual gamer there will be a place for you in the EDG Community.

The main site and blog will be more of a resource and community for all gamers, especially the pro teams. Established clans, hardcore gamers, and those looking to break into the realm of competitive gaming are welcomed as well. As for what we will offer to those who want to be partner with us we will assist teams in helping teams break into the competitive gaming world through a variety of ways. One of our primary focuses will be:

  • Helping pro teams find and acquire sponsors
  • Provide website support for those who want it

Generally this the website support will be a “Homepage” on EDG dedicated to that team and it will include:

  • Their current sponsor information where applicable
  • Team and Member Biography
  • EDG Team Blog account

This will enable teams to post news, team updates, records, and the ability to submit game reviews on our site. If you are interested in this option let us know so we can coordinate getting your page setup up.

In the meantime please have a look at the updated forums and join along and get to know some fellow gamers. They have been change to reflect the overwhelming percentage of Xbox gamers who populate our community. There is still a section for Nintendo and Sony but most of the sections are relegated to Xbox related material now.

I'm a long time gamer since 80's when people seemingly didn't know the term "color coordination." Seriously though I enjoy FPS/3PS, driving games, action games, sports, RTS, and adventure as well. I will play pretty much anything that caters to my lifestyle meaning something that I can pick up and get into within a short period of time. As you can guess though, RPG's don't make it in my "gaming diet" very often. Gamertags: HiredArm/M3RQ
