Wiimote-like Xbox 360 Controller Rumors Heat Up

1up.com adds fuel to the fire with new details on “Newton”, the supposed code-name for Microsoft’s new motion controller. A snippet from the 1up article:

“Jake,” the author of the post, writes that he “can now confirm the existence” of the project, and that the prototype is codenamed “Newton” (yes, after Sir Isaac). Jake writes that it will almost certainly be released this winter, and that an early software development kit and prototype of this Newton controller already exists and is “out there” (although it’s hard to say if this turn of phrase implies that third party developers have already received it).

I personally don’t believe this rumor – why the hell would Microsoft need to make a motion controller? If I’m playing COD4 I don’t want to have to “aim” my remote to shoot and waggle it off screen to reload. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Wiimote… but only for my Wii.
