Yes!! The original and my favorite Soul Calibur is coming to Xbox Live Arcade later this year. Originally released in Arcades and for the Dreamcast in 1999, Soul Calibur quickly became the best weapon fighting game in existence. There’s not many details on the XBLA release at this point, however, 1UP.com reports:

While we’re currently light on exact details about this port, Namco has confirmed that every character and mode from the Dreamcast game will be made available, and leaderboards will be added. In light of Soul Calibur IV’s release — likely not long before or after Soul Calibur arrives on Live Arcade — it’s unclear if the original will be upgraded with online play, although not doing so would be out of line with most other XBLA releases.

So does this mean Microsoft will lift the current XBLA filesize limitation? They’ll have to, as SC is no mere 150mb. And seeing as Soul Calibur is a full game and in terms of classics it’s a recent one, how many points would this go for? With SC we may see the first XBLA title to go above 800 MS points. As 1UP mentioned there are no details as to whether SC will be upgraded to include online play - but we can hope right? I already broke out my Dreamcast and SC in celebration of this news as you can see in the photo above. The soul still and always will, burn.
